FLOWERS FOR THE WINNER
In the 80s, Endrio Leoni, the professional cyclist, won the prestigious Venezia-Strà competition. During the prizegiving cerimony, the traditional flowers bouquet went to Mrs Faggin instead of the cyclist, a gift in the memory of her husband Marcello. When Marcello Faggin Started his career, he sponsored Endrio Leoni giving him a high quality frame with personalized geometries. That was a frame of inestimable value for such a young cyclist, that's why Endrio wanted to thank Marcello by giving to his widow the winner's flowers bouquet.
During the first years of the 80s, the famous cyclist Gino Bartali wanted to realize his own line if racing bicyles. Gino was a very famous cyclist in Italy, due to many successes between 1931 and 1955; he wanted only one person to realize his new bicycles line: his friend Marcello Faggin, well-known as the one who never accepted compromises about quality, the one who produced the frames that Gino used in many competitions (and most of them were all successes).
In 1976 Marcello's younger daughter met Massimo, Marcello's apprentice; they fell in love and got married, thanks to the family firm...
In the 70s, Faggin was already a famous brand all over the world. Once an unusual event occured and Faggins' kitchen became a business room, entertaining relevant guests, such as Eddy Merckx, Gino Bartali and many others, who were proposing new business offers. Actually, Marcello wasn't particularly impressed by those offers. Au contraire: he was happy because the competitors' offers were a proof of his excellent work and his good art philosophy. After some hours of negotiation, drinkind wine and grappa, the competitors understood that the love and passion of Marcello and his family for their firm was priceless. So, at the end of the night, they closed the business negotiation with only an handshake but with no business deal at all.
